Bryan D. Willson

Dr. Bryan Willson is Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Executive Director of the Energy Institute at Colorado State University. His pioneering work spans clean energy technologies, biofuels, and solutions for global energy access. A serial entrepreneur, he co-founded Envirofit International, Solix BioSystems, and Factor(e) Ventures.

His research at the Engines & Energy Conversion Laboratory addresses critical challenges in energy conversion, air quality, and sustainable development. Dr. Willson has worked extensively in developing countries to deploy clean cookstoves and energy technologies.

Honors include SAE Fellowship and multiple clean transportation awards. His ARPA-E contributions advanced U.S. energy innovation during his service as Program Director (2012-2016).
