Bruce Walczyk is a Professor of Dance and Movement Studies at Hamilton College, blending traditional martial arts with contemporary dance in his research and choreography. His work explores the Malay concept "Dari Bunga Datang Buah" ("from the flower comes the fruit"), emphasizing the connection between dance and combat applications.
His educational background includes a Master's degree in Choreography from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Bachelor's degree in Dance from the State University of New York at Brockport. Walczyk teaches courses such as Kinesiology, Choreography, and Advanced Martial Arts & Dance.
His choreographic works like "The White Rajahs" (2017) and "De Naga" (2009) reflect cross-cultural narratives, particularly from Southeast Asia. He presents his research internationally and is affiliated with organizations like the International Dance Council and the American College Dance Association.
