Bruce Sinclair

Bruce Sinclair is a Reader (Associate Professor) in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of St Andrews, affiliated with the Centre for Higher Education Research. He currently serves as Coordinator of taught postgraduate programmes in photonics and Senior photonics lab head, with prior experience as Director of Teaching for the School.

His educational background includes a B.Sc. in Physics and Ph.D., both from the University of St Andrews.

Dr. Sinclair's research focuses on physics education innovation, particularly developing multimedia resources for quantum mechanics instruction. His work bridges educational theory with practical applications through animations and problem-based learning frameworks. Former research centered on ultra-miniature laser systems with industrial applications in undersea vision and airspeed sensing.

Publication analysis reveals a clear shift from laser physics (2005) toward educational research (2008-2012), demonstrating sustained commitment to improving physics pedagogy through evidence-based multimedia tools and curriculum development.
