Bruce Maggi

Bruce Maggi serves as a Teaching Associate in the Department of Visual Arts within the College of Humanities at Coastal Carolina University, where he focuses on expanding students' perspectives beyond traditional European art narratives.

Maggi's research centers on the intersection of Native American Indigenous Studies and Modern Art, specifically examining how Native American art history has influenced modern artistic movements. He actively challenges Eurocentric frameworks in art education through dedicated scholarship in decolonial art history methodologies.

His teaching portfolio spans foundational art history courses (ARTH 105, 106, 107), specialized studies in Native American art (ARTH 499), and innovative Visual and Performing Arts courses including 'How and why we make art', 'Protest in Art', and 'Native American Cultures'.
