About
Bruce C. Gibb is Professor at Tulane University's School of Science & Engineering, specializing in supramolecular chemistry. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Robert Gordon's University in 1998. His research examines novel phenomena in aqueous supramolecular systems, focusing on the hydrophobic and Hofmeister effects using cavitand hosts and peptide studies.
Research Interests: His work spans:
- Development of nano-capsules as reaction vessels
- Molecular basis of solvation phenomena
- Supramolecular properties of peptides/proteins
- Advanced NMR and computational analysis
Recent publications (2022-2024) demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches combining biochemistry, physical chemistry, and astrobiology. Trends include peptide thermodynamics, anion binding studies, and scientific methodology critiques.
Awards & Recognition:
- Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC)
He leads the Gibb Group, serves as Editor-in-Chief of Supramolecular Chemistry, and co-founded the Aqueous Supramolecular Chemistry Workshop series.
