Professor Bruce Bennett is a faculty member at Lancaster University's College of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Film Studies, specializing in cinema, transnational film studies, and visual culture. With particular interests in:
- Hollywood and British cinema
- Refugee and migration studies
- Cycling cultures and cinema
- Political and experimental film
- Transnational cinematic encounters
- Cinema-technology relationships
His recent research includes a forthcoming book on Refugee Cinema (OUP, 2025) with Katarzyna Marciniak, and the 2019 publication Cycling and Cinema that earned a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship. He supervises 8 postgraduate research students across topics including:
- Saudi Women's Incorporeal Heritage
- Outsider Cinema in American Exploitation Films
- Migrant Workers in Chinese Cinema
- Cinema and Memory
- Cinema and the Afterlife
- Rebellious Youth Culture in East Asian Cinema
As Co-Investigator in the AHRC-funded IAA Impact Acceleration Account (2022-2027), he contributes to research on cultural impact and interdisciplinary practices.
