About
Broxton Bird is Professor of Earth Sciences and Director of the Center for Earth and Environmental Science (CEES) at Indiana University Indianapolis. His research reconstructs high-resolution Quaternary climate records using lake sediment archives.
Research focuses on:
- Hydroclimate variability mechanisms
- Water resource-climate change interactions
- Multi-proxy sediment analysis
- Isotope-enabled hydrologic modeling
Current projects examine Tibetan, South American, and Midwestern U.S. hydrologic systems. Methodologies combine field investigations with sedimentology, stable isotope geochemistry, and geophysical techniques. Recent publications include Holocene monsoon studies in Tibet and Peruvian Andes lake systems.
