Brooke Swash is Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Deputy Programme Leader for the MSc Applied Psychology at the University of Chester. A Chartered Psychologist and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, her research examines psychological aspects of palliative care, chronic illness, and staff wellbeing in healthcare settings.
Educational background includes BSc Biomedical Science (University of Sheffield), MEd Psychology of Education (University of Manchester), and PhD Psychology (University of Chester) focused on psychosocial needs in haematological cancer. Completed postdoctoral research at University of Cambridge's Palliative and End of Life Care Group, where she remains Visiting Researcher.
Research program develops psychological interventions for palliative patients and caregivers, with emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) applications. Current projects include online staff wellbeing interventions, bereavement support systems, and improving research capacity in palliative care. Teaches clinical/health psychology and qualitative methods across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
