Brinzei Monica is an Associate Professor at the University of Babes-Bolyai, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and concurrently serves as Director of Research (DR2) at the Institut de Recherche et d'Histoire des Textes (IRHT), CNRS, France. Her roles include leadership in academic organizations, such as Secretary of the Young Academy of Europe (2017–2018) and Chair of its Selection Committee (2015). She holds extensive research experience across institutions, including the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE) and Paris IV-Sorbonne.
Her research focuses on Medieval studies, encompassing epistemology, philosophy, theology, and the history of medieval universities. Specialized in Latin philology, paleography, and codicology, her work bridges textual analysis with institutional history. She directs the journal Studia Sententiarum and has received prestigious grants, including ERC Consolidator and Starting grants, underscoring her scholarly impact.
