Brigid Meints

Brigid Meints is an Assistant Professor of Practice and Organic Grains and Pulses Extension Specialist at Oregon State University's Center for Resilient Agriculture & Food Systems, affiliated with the Department of Crop and Soil Science. Her research focuses on organic agriculture, including breeding multi-use naked barley and early-maturing dry beans for western Oregon, organic weed/pest management, and enhancing value-added crop rotations for growers.

Research Interests: Her work integrates breeding for organic systems, disease resistance in barley, and sustainable grain production. She emphasizes practical applications for Pacific Northwest agriculture, including nutrient optimization in barley products and equitable breeding practices.

Publications: Her 15 most recent articles (2017–2024) concentrate on barley genetics, organic crop improvement, and food science applications. Dominant themes include genomic prediction, disease resistance, cultivar registration, and sustainable brewing ingredients, reflecting interdisciplinary collaboration across genetics, agronomy, and food chemistry.
