Brigid Maher

Dr. Brigid Maher is a tenured full professor in American University's School of Communication and Senior Fellow at the Community Voice Lab. An award-winning documentary filmmaker, her work focuses on women's issues in the Middle East, healthcare, and experimental media. She founded the Anacostia Youth Media Festival and serves in editorial roles for digital media journals.

Her films include Experimental Curator: The Sally Dixon Story (2022), The Mama Sherpas (2015), and Veiled Voices (2009), exploring female leadership in Islam, midwifery, and avant-garde cinema. Her research examines intersections between traditional film theory and digital media.
