Bridie McGreavy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of Maine, with a secondary appointment as Faculty Fellow at the Senator George J. Mitchell Center for Sustainability Solutions. Her research focuses on how communication shapes sustainability and justice efforts in coastal communities, river restoration, and collaborative problem-solving. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Maine (2013).
Dr. McGreavy teaches courses in environmental communication, research methods, and rhetorical theory. Her transdisciplinary NSF-funded projects include the Maine eDNA Project and an NRT grant for conservation leadership training. She actively mentors graduate students in environmental communication and leads collaborative research initiatives addressing ecological and social challenges.
Her publications span environmental communication, sustainability science, and rhetorical theory, appearing in journals like Environmental Communication, Ecology and Society, and Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment. Her work emphasizes community-engaged research and equitable sustainability practices.
Dr. McGreavy collaborates with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous communities and policymakers, to advance actionable solutions for environmental justice and resilience. She is currently accepting graduate students (M.A./Ph.D.) for her environmental communication research group.
