Brian McCuskey

Dr. Brian McCuskey is a Professor and Department Head of English at Utah State University. His research focuses on science and religion in Victorian novels, the history of detective fiction, and neo-Victorian adaptation. He has published widely in literary journals and authored major works on pseudoscientific themes in Victorian literature.

Research & Awards: His article “Sherlock Holmes and Intelligent Design” (2013) received an Honorable Mention from the North American Victorian Studies Association. He explores intersections between Victorian science, spiritualism, and narrative form, with a focus on how detective fiction reflects broader cultural debates.

Teaching & Advising: Dr. McCuskey has supervised graduate theses on 19th-century British literature, film studies, and critical theory. He teaches courses in the history of the novel, Victorian studies, and critical theory.
