Brian Eugenio Herrera is Associate Professor of Theater at Princeton University, with affiliations in Gender and Sexuality Studies, American Studies, and Latino Studies. His research examines intersections of race, gender and sexuality in U.S. popular performance.
Research explores Latinx theater history, casting practices, and autobiographical performance. Publications include 'Latin Numbers: Playing Latino in Twentieth-Century U.S. Popular Performance' (2015) and scholarship on María Irene Fornés and West Side Story.
As Inaugural Resident Scholar for The Sol Project, he supports Latinx playwrights. Awards include the Betty Jean Jones teaching award and George Jean Nathan Award for criticism.
