About
Brian Garner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Baylor University, where he contributes to both teaching and research within the College of Engineering. His work bridges mechanical systems design, biomedical engineering, and computational modeling.
Research Interests:
- Development of computer algorithms and simulation tools for modeling multi-rigid-body systems and human musculoskeletal biomechanics, especially muscle wrapping paths and shoulder joint dynamics.
- Automated analysis of CT images to detect hidden injuries through anatomical misalignments, particularly in the occipito-cervical region.
- Study of electromagnetic wave propagation around the moving human body to optimize small, low-power antennas for remote health monitoring.
- Design and evaluation of mechanical therapy devices, including a mechanical horse simulator that replicates natural riding motion for therapeutic use in children with autism.
His teaching portfolio includes Statics, Strength of Materials, Machine Design, Engineering Design I & II, Biomechanics, Computer Modeling in Biomechanics, Advanced Dynamics, Computer-Aided Design, and Microprocessor Systems.
Brian Garner earned his PhD (1998), MS (1992), and BS (1989) in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas. He is actively engaged in research and education with no indication of retirement or part-time status.
