Dr. Brian D. Roberts is the Roy W. Johnson Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Angie W. Cox School of Government at Principia College. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, an MA from the University of Virginia, and a BA from Principia College. His research focuses on presidential communication, approval ratings, and electoral dynamics, alongside experiential learning methodologies in political science education.
Roberts has served as Division Chair of the Social Sciences Division (2011–2016) and on Principia’s Committee for the Assessment of Student Learning since 2017. He was the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative for Principia from 2001–2018, contributing to NCAA Division III committees. His scholarly contributions include co-authoring entries in the Book of the States and presenting at major conferences like the American Political Science Association.
