Brian Cutter

Brian Cutter is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, affiliated with the College of Arts Letters. He joined the university in 2016 after serving as a Bersoff Faculty Fellow at New York University’s Center for Mind, Brain, and Consciousness. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin (2015) and a B.A. from Whitman College (2009). His research focuses on philosophy of mind, metaphysics, and philosophy of religion, addressing questions about consciousness, the nature of mind-body relations, and the implications of moral realism. He has also engaged with contemporary issues in AI ethics and axiological realism.
