Brian Castellani

Professor Brian Castellani is a faculty member in the Department of Sociology at Durham University, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences. His research spans interdisciplinary methods, computational modeling, and policy evaluation, with a focus on environmental health and social complexity.

• Research Interests: Social complexity, case-based methods, visual complexity, environmental health, air quality effects on brain health, collective behavior, and self/mind theories.

His recent publications highlight the mathematical quantification of inequality in probability distributions, cultural models in refugee psychotherapy, and air pollution mitigation strategies for cognitive frailty. He employs agent-based modeling and scenario simulation for public policy analysis, particularly during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic.
