Brian Caputo

Brian Caputo is a Lecturer in Drum Set at James Madison University's School of Music. He holds a B.A. in Music Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he studied jazz drum set and classical percussion. With over 30 years of professional experience, Brian specializes in diverse genres including jazz, classical, country, rock, and avant-garde music.

His current work emphasizes the intersection of music and storytelling through projects like Ali Webb & Friends, which performs Dave Frishberg's repertoire in community settings to foster connection and healing. Brian maintains an active performance schedule, including weekly jazz trio performances at Richmond's Jefferson Hotel and collaborations with symphonies/theater productions.
