Brett Tjaden

Brett Tjaden is a Professor of Computer Science at James Madison University (JMU) and Director of the M.S. in CyberSecurity graduate program. He holds affiliations with the College of Integrated Science & Engineering and co-advises the JMU Cyber Defense Club.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, University of Virginia (1997)
• B.S. in Computer Science, Haverford College (1991)

Research Interests:

• Focuses on cybersecurity, cyber defense, and digital forensics
• Explores computer/network/Internet security challenges and solutions
• Active in interdisciplinary cybersecurity education and competition initiatives

Professional Background:

• Previously taught at Ohio University (1998–2002)
• Developed the Oracle of Bacon website at University of Virginia
• Former member of the Automated Speech Recognition group at NIST

Advising & Leadership:

• Guides the JMU Cyber Defense Club in national competitions
• Oversees the CyberSecurity graduate program curriculum

Labs/Teams: Involved with JMU's CyberDefense initiatives and interdisciplinary cybersecurity research groups.
