Floyd's research specializes in transnational Atlantic histories with emphasis on revolutionary movements, maritime networks, and colonial resistance. His current book project, derived from his dissertation "On Strange Tide: The United Irishmen, Conscription, and Liminal Spaces in the Revolutionary Atlantic," investigates how forcibly conscripted United Irish rebels navigated transitional spaces across the Atlantic world, examining their radical networks and influence on 1798 mutinies within British naval fleets. This work bridges military history, diaspora studies, and revolutionary Atlantic scholarship through analysis of liminal experiences during the Age of Revolutions.
Floyd actively contributes to national military recovery efforts through his DPAA-affiliated research while developing his monograph on Irish revolutionary mobility in maritime contexts.
