Dr. Brendan Paddison is the Dean of York Business School and Professor of Tourism Geographies at York St John University. He holds a PhD in Tourism Development from the University of Leeds (2014). His roles include academic leadership across foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs in Business, Management, and related fields.
Research interests focus on tourism management, destination governance, urban geography, public policy, and tourism education. He leads the Visitor Economy and Experience research group and chairs the York Tourism Advisory Board. His work emphasizes spatial justice in tourist-historic cities and regenerative tourism practices.
Prof. Paddison is Subject Editor for the Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Education and serves on editorial boards for multiple journals. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Teaching responsibilities span Business Management, Tourism, and Project Management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He supervises research degrees and collaborates internationally through TEFI (Tourism Education Futures Initiative). Professional activities include external examining roles at the University of Derby and University of Salford.
