Brenda Freshman

Brenda Freshman serves as a tenured Professor and Internship Coordinator in the Health Care Management Department at California State University, Long Beach's College of Health & Human Services, where she has been a full-time faculty member since Fall 2007 after previously teaching at UCLA School of Public Health (1996-2006).

Her educational background includes:

• BS in Psychology from UCLA
• MA in Applied Psychology from University of Santa Monica
• MS and Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology

Dr. Freshman's research examines emotional intelligence, interdisciplinary collaboration, workforce development for aging populations, cultural competency, and how cognitive-emotional processes impact productivity and legacy. She is a sought-after speaker who has facilitated leadership and self-development workshops since 1993, with particular focus on ethics training applications in healthcare settings.

As Internship Coordinator for HCA 480, she oversees student practicum placements while teaching core courses including Health Personnel Management (HCA 312), Health Management Systems (HCA 505), and Human Resources Management (HCA 510), integrating her expertise in behavioral psychology with healthcare administration frameworks.
