Brechtje Post is Professor of Phonetics and Phonology at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Jesus College. She serves as Co-Director of the Language Sciences Interdisciplinary Research Centre and was Director of Studies in Linguistics at Jesus College from 2010 until going on leave for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Professor Post's research focuses on the intersection of phonetics, phonology, and cognitive processing. Her work examines how prosody and intonation function in speech production and comprehension, with particular interest in how these elements are acquired by language learners and processed in the brain. She investigates the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying speech prosody, contributing to our understanding of the psychological dimensions of linguistic structure.
As Co-Director of the Language Sciences Interdisciplinary Research Centre, she helps facilitate cross-departmental collaboration on language-related research across the University of Cambridge. Though currently on leave from her Director of Studies role at Jesus College, she has been a Fellow of the college since 2008, contributing to the academic community for over fifteen years.
