Brecht Rogissart is a Researcher in the Department of History at the European University Institute, part of the 2020 doctoral cohort. His academic work focuses on the intersection of economic structures and historical development during the formative period of global capitalism.
His research interests span Economic History, Belgian History, and the evolution of Capitalism Studies, with particular attention to financial-industrial relationships in the 19th century. Rogissart's work contributes to understanding how national economic systems integrated into the first wave of globalization between 1850-1914.
As a doctoral researcher under the supervision of Professor Glenda Sluga, with Alexia Yates serving as second reader, Rogissart is part of the vibrant academic community at EUI's Department of History, which specializes in transnational and global historical approaches.
