Brandon L. Simmons

Brandon L. Simmons serves as Distinguished Professor of Business and MBA Program Coordinator at Wiley University while leading workforce development initiatives at the historic Pemberton High School complex. He concurrently holds the position of Chairman of the Texas Southern University Board of Regents, appointed by Governor Greg Abbott in February 2023 and confirmed by the Texas Senate in May 2023.

His educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley and a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School. Post-graduation, he received the John W. Gardner Fellowship and clerked for Chief Judge J.L. Edmondson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Simmons' professional expertise centers on governance frameworks and leadership development across business, philanthropy, and education sectors. His work spans corporate board service in energy and technology industries, venture capital advisory roles, and creation of specialized curricula in entrepreneurship and economics. As host of Amazon's national mentoring series, he connects youth with technology sector career pathways.

His recognition includes the Legendary Scholar honor at Houston's 2024 Black History Month Celebration and appointment to the Texas Lyceum board in 2025.

Academic contributions include delivering the 2024 Convocation Address at The Imani School and the 2025 Honors Convocation Address at Wiley University, alongside spearheading workforce development programs at the Pemberton High School complex.
