About
Brandon Ely is a Teaching & Learning Fellow at the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) of Macaulay Honors College, City University of New York (CUNY). As a PhD candidate in Molecular Biology at the Graduate Center, CUNY, he conducts research at Brooklyn College, focusing on stress response following whole genome duplications, the adaptive significance of polyploidization, and genomic instability. His work aims to connect these phenomena to health, disease, and evolutionary biology.
- Studying stress response after whole genome duplications
- Investigating the adaptive value of polyploidization
- Exploring genomic instability in molecular systems
Brandon is deeply committed to science education, having previously taught biology at Bronx Community College and Brooklyn College. He began his career as a science teacher in NYC public schools and continues to integrate pedagogical innovation with his research pursuits.
