About
Boris Reizis, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Pathology at NYU Langone Health's School of Medicine. He also holds the distinguished Samuel A. Brown Professorship of Medicine in the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Reizis leads the Reizis Lab with research spanning three interconnected domains:
- Systemic Autoimmunity: Investigating mechanisms of anti-DNA responses in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), including the identification of DNASE1L3 as an essential gatekeeper of tolerance to self-DNA
- Dendritic Cell Biology: Characterizing transcriptional regulators controlling DC lineage development, including Tcf4/E2-2 ("master regulator" of plasmacytoid DC development), Notch2 (driver of classical DC differentiation), and Trim33 (key "pan-DC" regulator)
- Immune System Development: Using genetic tools to study immune cell development from endogenous hematopoietic stem cells in unmanipulated animals
His laboratory's work has significant implications for understanding autoimmune disease mechanisms, immune responses to infections, and immune homeostasis. Current research focuses on abnormalities of HSC-driven immune development associated with inflammation, aging, and malignant transformation.
Dr. Reizis maintains an active research program with his laboratory located at 435 E 30th St, Science Building, 4th Floor, Room 413, New York, NY 10016.
