About
Boris Okun is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's College of Letters & Science. His research specializes in geometric topology, Coxeter groups, and $L^2$-cohomology with applications to algebraic topology.
He earned his Ph.D. from SUNY-Binghamton (1994) and M.S. from Moscow State University (1986). Okun has organized major conferences including the 42nd Annual Spring Topology and Dynamics Conference and Geometric Topology: A conference in honor of Steve Ferry.
His seminal publications include work on weighted $L^2$-cohomology of Coxeter groups and cohomology with group ring coefficients. Current research extends topological methods to barycentric subdivisions and geometric group theory applications.
