Boris Cota, PhD is a Professor at the Faculty of Economics & Business (FEB), University of Zagreb, where he has worked since 1989. He teaches Macroeconomics, Economic Policy, and Macroeconomics of Financial Markets at FEB, and also teaches Macroeconomics at the Faculty of Science - Department of Mathematics, University of Zagreb. He served as a Visiting Scholar at the Graduate Center (CUNY) in 2006/07 and has held leadership roles, including Head of the Specialist Postgraduate Study in International Economics and Finance.
- Research Interests: Current Account Dynamics, Economic Openness, Financial Liberalization, Economic Complexity, Export Competitiveness, Income Inequality
- External Roles: Member of the Council of the Croatian National Bank (2006–2013), Special Advisor to the President of Croatia (2010–2012), President of the Governing Council of the Economic Institute Zagreb (since 2024)
- Projects: Led the Croatian Science Foundation project 'The Role of Structural Reforms in Encouraging External Competitiveness of EU Countries' (2015–2019)
His recent publications focus on income inequality, export competitiveness, financial liberalization, and current account dynamics in EU countries. He has mentored 10 doctoral candidates and serves on editorial boards, including the Croatian National Bank Periodical Publications.
