Bori Hunyadi

Bori Hunyadi is an Assistant Professor in the Signal Processing Systems (SPS) group at the Department of Microelectronics, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS). She is actively involved in shaping a supportive and inclusive academic culture.

Her research interests lie primarily in signal processing systems and microelectronics, with a strong emphasis on human-centered academic leadership. She advocates for empathetic supervision, psychological safety, and inclusivity, particularly for women and international staff in a male-dominated Dutch academic environment. Her interests extend to improving workplace culture, minimizing stress and burnout, and fostering motivation through respect rather than fear.

Bori emphasizes the importance of bringing one’s whole self to work and being accepted with one’s unique background and challenges. She draws inspiration from her PhD advisor, who cultivated a safe and accommodating research group atmosphere. Her recent reflections highlight the linguistic and cultural barriers faced by non-native Dutch speakers and women, where direct communication styles may be misinterpreted.

She is concerned about the underrepresentation of women in senior academic roles, noting that she is among the older female staff members despite being under 40. However, she observes a positive shift in gender balance among newer hires. Looking forward, she hopes to attract more young women into electrical engineering by showcasing its societal impact and diverse career opportunities.
