About
Bolin Lin is an Assistant Professor at Shanghai Technical University, with a strong background in chemistry and catalysis research. He completed his bachelor's degree in Chemistry at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and earned his PhD at Caltech under Professor John Bercaw, focusing on C-H bond activation. Currently, he works as a postdoctoral scholar in the Stack lab, collaborating with Professors Christopher Chidsey and T. Daniel P. Stack on catalytic development for CO2 reduction using earth-abundant metals.
Education:
- Bachelor's in Chemistry, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC)
- PhD, Caltech (Graduation Year 2016), supervised by Professor John Bercaw
His research focuses on catalysis, electrocatalytic CO2 reduction, and mechanistic investigations of chemical reactions. He has also explored computational studies on Ni and Pd-catalyzed Heck reactions and substituent effects on bond dissociation energies.
As of late 2013, he will transition to ShanghaiTech University, a research university, to begin his faculty role. His work bridges computational and experimental approaches to address challenges in sustainable chemistry.
