Prof. Bodo Ahrens is a Professor of Mesoscale Meteorology and Climate at Goethe University Frankfurt, leading the Mesoscale Meteorology and Climate group within the Institute for Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Bonn (1996) and habilitation from the University of Vienna (2004). His research focuses on climate modeling, hydrological extremes, and atmospheric dynamics, with expertise in regional climate projections, convective processes, and climate change impacts.
Prof. Ahrens has held key roles including Acting Director of his institute (2008-2009), chairs the Scientific Advisory Board of the COSMO-CLM Community, and leads the LOEWE Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre's climate modeling projects.
