Bodil Hansen Blix

Bodil Hansen Blix serves as a Professor at the Department of Health and Care Sciences at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, where she also functions as Subject Manager for the Master in Aging and Geriatric Health Work program and Research Group Leader for the Center for Care Research North. Additionally, she holds a Professor II position at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences in Bergen.

Her research interests center on the intersection of critical gerontology, narrative gerontology, and health services research, with particular emphasis on elderly people's lives and health, health inequalities, and Arctic rural health contexts. As a nurse and PhD, she specializes in qualitative research methodology, particularly narrative approaches.

Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong thematic focus on societal perceptions of aging, narrative approaches to geriatric care, Arctic health challenges, gender dimensions of aging, and critical examinations of ageism in Norwegian society. Her work spans both academic journals and public discourse through regular columns in Tidsskriftet Sykepleien and Kommunal Rapport.
