Bode Christoph

Christoph Bode is a Professor and Chair of Modern English Literature at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (since 2001). Previously, he held professorial roles at Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg (1992–2001) and Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel (Assistant Professor 1977–1986, Associate Professor 1986–1992). His research focuses on literary theory, British Romanticism, screen adaptations, travel literature, and 20th-century Anglophone literature. Notable achievements include a €900,000 ERC Advanced Grant (2008–2011) for the project 'Narrating Futures' and the 1988 Deutscher Anglistentag award for his Habilitation thesis.

His academic career spans over four decades, with temporary professorships at Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen (1989–1990) and extensive contributions to literary studies.
