About
Bobby Gillham is a Lecturer at the School of Engineering, The University of Western Australia. His research focuses on materials science and additive manufacturing, particularly in fatigue assessment of Ti-6Al-4V alloys produced via Selective Laser Melting (SLM). He leads and collaborates on projects addressing process-inherent defects and complex geometry effects in structural materials.
Recent work includes a 2023 publication in the International Journal of Fatigue, detailing refined critical distance theory applications. He is Principal Investigator on three active grants: 3DAM at UWA (2025), TechWorks Melt-Pool Monitoring (2024-2025), and Recycling of Plastics for Use in Manufacturing (2024-2025), all funded by Woodside Energy Limited.
