Blake Hanson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. His research focuses on applying advanced genomic technologies and big-data analytical methods to investigate infectious diseases of public health importance. Specific areas include infectious disease transmission, microbial communities in disease development, and antimicrobial resistance dynamics. Current projects explore acquired antimicrobial resistance genes in Staphylococcus aureus, CRE, and VRE, as well as the role of microbiomes in medical device-associated infections, particularly breast implants post-mastectomy.
