Blake Gutt (he/him) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah since July 2023. His academic journey includes a PhD (2018), BA (2013), and MA (2015) from Cambridge and King's College London, focusing on medieval French and Occitan literature. He served as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Michigan (2018-2022) and a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh (2022-2023).

Gutt specializes in medieval French and Occitan literature, integrating transgender studies and gender theory to challenge traditional narratives. His work explores hagiography, visual cultures, and literary theory to uncover non-normative gender identities in medieval texts. Current book project: The Trans Middle Ages.
His 15 most recent publications focus on transgender genealogies, queer medieval pregnancy, manuscript symbolism, and intersections of Deleuze/Guattari philosophy with medieval literature. Articles often analyze French chansons de geste and Catalan texts, highlighting rhizomatic family structures and gendered embodiment.
