Blake Carpenter

Blake Carpenter is a Lecturer in the Department of Modern Languages at The University of Texas at Arlington, where he has taught for 28 years. He also serves as Manager of Student Data Services for University Analytics since 2015. His roles include academic advising, program coordination, and leadership in translation education. Carpenter holds a Master of Divinity (2001) and is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree (expected 2025).

Education:

• DMin in Ministry (pending, 2025), B.H. Carroll Theological Seminary
• MA in Theology and Biblical Languages (2001), Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
• BA in French Language & Literature (1985), Davidson College

Research & Teaching: Focuses on Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, localization, and pedagogical innovation in language education. He coordinates UT Arlington’s Localization and Translation Program and has advised over 30 courses annually across multiple languages, including ARAB, CHIN, FREN, GERM, KORE, RUSS, and SPAN.

• UTAAA Outstanding Academic Advisor (2010)

Professional Activities: Served as Program Coordinator for Localization & Translation (2022–2024), Globalization and Localization Association member, and certified Memsource trainer. Presented at IALLT Conference (2021) and LOC World (2016).

Labs/Teams: Leads the Globalization, Internationalization, Localization, and Translation (GILT) Program, integrating neural MT advancements into curricula.
