Blair Proctor is Assistant Professor of African History in the Department of Black Studies at SUNY New Paltz. His research examines racial identity formation, decolonial politics, and urban geographies across African and African diaspora contexts, with regional focus on South Africa and the American South.
His scholarship analyzes historical and contemporary expressions of resistance, including recent work on COVID-19 necropolitics in New Orleans and Garveyite influences in post-apartheid South Africa. Proctor has received Fulbright and Global South research grants supporting fieldwork in South Africa.
