About
Dr. Bintian Lin is an Assistant Professor in human-structure dynamics at the University of Warwick's School of Engineering, joining in November 2023. He holds a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering (2017) and a PhD from Harbin Institute of Technology, China, with a visiting research stint at the University of Exeter (2022) under China Scholarship Council (CSC) sponsorship.
His research focuses on human-induced vibrations in civil engineering structures, human-structure interactions, and gait analysis. He develops human models to capture dynamic interactions, leveraging expertise in experimental gait analysis and locomotion modeling. He leads the Human & Structure Lab and is involved in teaching modules like ES2C3 Civil Engineering Materials and Structural Analysis.
Current projects include a Royal Society Research Grant (2025-2026) exploring immersive technologies for built environment assessments. He supervises PhD students through scholarships like CSC-Warwick for Chinese applicants. Office hours are Wednesdays 11:00-13:00 during term time.
