Bing Yu

Bing Yu is a Professor and Co-Director of the Human Genetics Center at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, holding the JLH Foundation Distinguished Chair in Transplant Prevention. He is affiliated with the Epidemiology department and works from the Reuel Stallones Building at 1200 Pressler Street, Houston, TX.

Dr. Yu is a molecular epidemiologist with extensive training across medicine, genetics, biostatistics and epidemiology. His research spans multiple disciplines focusing on improving understanding of cardiopulmonary diseases through innovative approaches.

His primary research interests include:

• Discovering novel molecular biomarkers
• Identifying biological pathways of cardiopulmonary disease
• Understanding disproportionate disease burden in minorities
• Applying panomic approaches to population health
• Big Data applications in public health research

Dr. Yu works with population-based cohorts and large research consortia to conduct multi-disciplinary investigations. As Co-Director of the Human Genetics Center, he leads initiatives focused on genetic aspects of disease prevention and treatment, particularly in the context of transplant medicine.

His work bridges clinical medicine with population science, focusing on translating molecular discoveries into public health applications that address health disparities, particularly in cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions.
