Dr. Bin Liu is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the Department of Management Science at the University of Strathclyde (since 2019). Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Waterloo, Canada. He holds a BE in Automation from Zhejiang University (China) and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from City University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on risk & reliability analysis, intelligent asset management, decision-making under uncertainty, and data analytics, with applications in manufacturing, utilities, and energy sectors. He actively supervises PhD students and leads/co-invests in funded projects such as the Human-in-the-loop AI Explainability project (2025–2026) and COFFEAD (2024–2026).
