Prof. Dr. Billur Barshan is a faculty member at Bilkent University, where she has been serving since 1993. Her academic expertise lies in the fields of wearable robotics, environmental intelligence, inertial sensors, and sensor data fusion.
Her research interests include:
- Wearable robotics and mechanisms
- Environmental intelligence for autonomous systems
- Inertial sensing technologies
- Sensor data integration and fusion algorithms
Prof. Barshan has been recognized with several prestigious awards for her contributions to robotics and engineering research, including the Nakamura Best Paper Award at IEEE/RSJ IROS, the TÜBİTAK Incentive Award, and the ODTÜ Parlar Foundation Research Incentive Award.
She holds a PhD from Yale University (1991) and completed postdoctoral research at the Robotics Research Group, University of Oxford. She currently serves as Turkey's representative on the Management Committee of the COST-ICO903 MOVE Action, contributing to international collaborative research in robotics and movement sciences.
