Bill Singleton

Bill Singleton serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Media at Samford University's Howard College of Arts and Sciences, joining the institution in August 2023.

He holds a PhD and MA in Communication and Information Sciences from the University of Alabama and a BA in Mass Media Arts from Hampton University.

His research examines systemic challenges for journalists of color and representation dynamics in evolving news ecosystems, informed by 25+ years of frontline journalism experience across major publications. This work bridges critical race theory with practical media industry analysis.

Singleton co-founded Hoover-AHEAD, a community initiative advancing racial equity in Hoover, Alabama, reflecting his commitment to translating academic inquiry into civic action.
