Bill Morandi

Bill Morandi is a Full Professor of Synthetic Organic Chemistry at ETH Zürich's Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences, where he also serves as Deputy Head of the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry. He previously held positions as a Max Planck Research Group Leader at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung and completed postdoctoral research at Caltech. His academic credentials include a PhD in organic synthesis from ETH Zürich under Professor Erick M. Carreira.

Morandi's research focuses on pioneering catalytic methodologies for molecular synthesis, with emphasis on sustainable chemistry through renewable feedstock valorization and waste material transformation. His interdisciplinary approach integrates organic synthesis, organometallic chemistry, and mechanistic studies to address challenges in small molecule and materials synthesis.
