Bill Lawrence

Bill Lawrence is a distinguished broadcaster and former Professor at the RTA School of Media (class of '81). He served as a Professor at RTA from 1980 to 1996, contributing to media education while maintaining a parallel 50-year career in broadcasting. His roles spanned technician, director, producer, writer, and announcer across CHCH-TV, CBC, and Global-TV.

Notable contributions include creating children’s programs like Interesting Room, Special Place, and Albert J. Steed—early precursors to Sesame Street—and co-producing Tiny Talent Time, Canada’s second-longest-running TV show. At CBC, he hosted weather, news, documentaries, and game shows such as It’s Your Choice and Juliette and Friends. He also anchored Global-TV’s lottery programs like Million Dollar Sweeps.

Lawrence’s legacy includes mentoring RTA students who have since built successful careers in media. His work reflects expertise in educational content development, live television, and the evolution of broadcasting.
