Bill Gunderson

Bill Gunderson is a faculty member in the Chemistry Department at Hendrix College. He teaches courses such as General Chemistry II, Biological Chemistry, Directed Research, and Senior Seminar. His research focuses on bioinorganic chemistry, with three primary aims: mechanistic studies of nitric oxide (NO) reduction and iron-sulfur (FeS) cluster repair in bacteria, investigation of manganese's role in biomacromolecules like enzymes and DNA structures, and the development of low-cost instrumentation for biochemical studies using 3D printing and Arduino technology.

• Current research spans bacterial enzyme protection mechanisms, Mn-based biomolecular interactions, and accessible spectroscopic tool development.
• Teaches foundational and advanced chemistry courses, including General Chemistry II (CHEM 120), Biological Chemistry (CHEM 330), and Senior Seminar (CHEM 497).
