Bijal Bala

Bijal Bala is a Professor and Regional Campus Dean at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health's Dallas campus, where she holds the Rockwell Distinguished Chair in Society and Health. As a physician, epidemiologist, and health services researcher, her work focuses on improving primary care delivery and addressing challenges in managing chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, depression, and cancer. She co-directs the UTHealth Houston Institute for Implementation Science, aiming to bridge the gap between research and practice.

Her research interests span implementation science, cancer prevention, chronic disease epidemiology, and health services research. Through her leadership roles, she fosters academic excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance population health outcomes equitably.

As Dallas Regional Dean, she cultivates a supportive environment for faculty, staff, and students to thrive in public health education and research.
