Bhen Alan is an Assistant Professor of Art at Hamilton College, where he integrates cultural heritage and contemporary artistic practices. As a visual artist and dancer, he draws from his upbringing in diasporic communities, blending traditional folk dance and weaving with modern interdisciplinary approaches.
- Education: M.F.A. in painting and Certificate in Collegiate Teaching in Art and Design from Rhode Island School of Design; B.F.A. in painting from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth; A.A. from Bristol Community College.
His Fulbright scholarship (2022-23) supported artistic research on mat culture with indigenous weavers in the Philippines, highlighting his focus on preserving traditional practices through contemporary lenses.
Alan’s exhibitions at institutions like Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Cue Art Foundation, and Yale University’s E.I.K. Gallery underscore his prominence in visual arts. He actively contributes to academic and cultural dialogues through his multisensory, cross-disciplinary work.
